I am a backstage dad with the local ballet company (my daughters dance in the company). The dads work backstage and also make, repair and move props. I’m the guy with the white hair in the back.
I also play some roles on stage, including Dr. Stahlbaum in our annual production of “The Nutcracker.” Thank you, photographer Dave Schlenker, for getting my good side.
I serve on the board at LifeSouth Community Blood Center. In that capacity, I held a blood drive in my own neighborhood!

Facebook and Twitter are great. But there is nothing like a hand-written note. It benefits not just the recipient but also the sender. We can’t let social media completely replace the simple, thoughtful, hand-written note.
